A Pinterest Project in the Making

I am one of the few who is not yet on Pinterest. It’s actually not for a lack of trying. I have requested an invite a couple of times but to no avail. Hmmm. If you are listening, Pinterest, I am sort of offended! But I do hop on from time to time to look through all of the glorious inspiration. Have ya’ll seen this { I picked that up in Austin, by the way}.

Tie Collar...pretty cool!

I need to do this. I have ties that belong to loved ones I have lost and ties that hold special meaning to us but my hubby no longer wears . . . wouldn’t this be such a cute way to breathe new life into them. Does anyone know where the actual tutorial is for this. I tried to hunt it down but to no avail. And I had Revenge on DVR waiting for me as well. PLEASE shoot the link my way if you have seen it. I am dying to try this one out.

UPDATE: Thanks to my WONDERFUL readers for tracking down the tutorial from Shelley at Crazy Wonderful.

Have you copied any great idea from Pinterest or blog lately? Would love to hear about it.

  1. Found a tutorial! http://mckells-closet.blogspot.com/2011/08/ruffle-necktie-tee-tutorial.html Pinterest rocks. It seems to work better with a personal invite, instead of one straight from pinterest.

    1. Also, here's the one from picture you posted: http://westermanfam.blogspot.com/2011/07/upcycled-tie-necklace-tutorial.html. It's a necklace in the tutorial.

  2. Oh, Courtney, you have to read my "Dear Pinterest" post I wrote about 2 weeks ago. You'll crack up. (I just caved and joined, but had to have a friend send an invite. I can send you one...no ridiculous waiting time as it if it's for the "elite"! Ha!)

    Cute tie project!

  5. What a cute idea! Oh and regarding pinterest...I have no problem with the invite, but hate the fact that you HAVE to have facebook...which I do not have, nor do I want to have.

  6. I can invite you directly if you'd like! It shouldn't take more than a day that way. What email address should I send it to?

  13. I love this idea! I hadn't ever come across that before. That's the one beef I have with Pinterest - sometimes it can be hard to find the original source for things. Makes it really frustrating when you're trying to find a tutorial. BTW - New Revenge on tonight- I can hardly wait!!!! Oh and the y'alls - just start rolling off your tongue when you spend any amount of time in the South. ;)

  18. I think I might like this better if the end didn't look so much like the bottom of the tie? I'm wondering how it might looked rounded or with a bow at the end??

If I wasn't running behind in my blog reading today, I totally would have ran across your post (as I regularly blog stalk you) and could have told you myself :D I can't believe you're not on Pinterst yet!!! You've gotten several offers, but let me know if you're interested and I'll send you an instant invite :)

  23. I like this shirt but I always wonder how you wash it because ties just shrivel up and die when you accidently wash them because no one picked it up off the floor so it got mixed in with the laundry :)
