Simple Kids’ BBQ: {Hotdog Boats}

There is no denying that my daughter is somewhat of a mini-me. She wanted to have her friends over for a BBQ and to quote my son, “Daddy, you make the best hotdogs ever!” So after spying a hotdog boat on Pizzazzerie {from the very talented, Courtney}, the kiddos were set on the theme of the party. It was simple and sweet. Truly just a playdate where we happened to have set the table as well. The kids made the banners, set the table, and helped decorate the water bottles. Here is the post party wrap up!

This aqua caddy {Target} normally houses our art supplies. I took them out for the night and slipped in the cutlery, napkins, and condiments. Nice and easy for passing around the table. The chalkboard label is from the Martha Stewart line.

…………………...where is it from?

The most popular question on any post is, “Where is it from? So here are the details. All of the plates, napkins, and cups were from Target last spring. Here is a post I did on end of the year teacher gifts. Well, true to form, I snagged a set of this cute line for myself as well and tucked it away in the pantry. I fell in love with the blue and aqua color scheme. Even did a Friday Eye Candy about this color combo recently. The water bottles we just wrapped in scrapbook paper. My daughter used her sticker letters to put on everyone’s initial. Her idea. Super crafty, that one! The runner is actually a roll of wrapping paper from the $1 section at Target. I always scoop up any cute prints they have. They are a great width for running down your table!

While I cleaned out our kitchen cabinet, my daughter cut out the triangles for the banner {also her idea}. She insisted we needed a banner. Oh, boy! I am creating a party monster.

Thank you to my sweet hubby for grilling up the “best hotdogs ever!” and entertaining the kids while they ate.

……………how-to {hotdog sail}

I rounded up some darling paper from our local scrapbook store {Pages of Tyme}. I could get lost in there as they have the most amazing papers. I also used striped straws, a glue gun, a hole punch, and grosgrain ribbon.

{make a pattern for two sails}

I just freehanded these and cut out two different sizes. I also labeled them A and B so that I wouldn’t get them mixed up.

I traced these and my daughter cut them all out.

How precious is this face? We have known these little guys since they were born. They happen to be my son’s age and our daughter’s are the same exact age as well. Such fun to watch them grow and develop their own little friendships. These faces are what life is all about.

So kudos to my sweet girl for throwing her first party {where she did most of the work}. It was a really fun evening spent with dear friends. What about you? Does the end of summer mean more barbeques and parties?
