Our Christmas Mantel 2012

This Christmas season has been about bright pops of color for us. We are pretty much decorated and now enjoying activities from our advent calendar. I always appreciate this time of year and how it really makes us focus on spending the evenings doing something special. Even it is something as simple as reading Christmas stories or baking cookies together. And boy oh boy does our Elf {Candy Cane} create angels this time of year. I am hearing, “Okay, Mommy!” so much more than I ever do during the rest of the year. Wishing our Elf on the Shelf were a permanent member of our family! So here is a peek at the brightly colored Christmas mantel. Because I went so bold with color, I chose to keep it as simple as I could. ……………………..merry mantel   Merry Mantel A Thoughtful Place   I lucked out and stumbled upon this Merry sign at Target. It really tied everything in together {I think it was $10}. The larger snowflakes are from Home Depot and the small ones on the merry sign are from Target. Our stockings are hung in a new spot this year. More on that later. Then I attached them to the Merry sign with a tiny bit of glue. topiarymantel In case you missed it, I posted about how to make the topiaries here. I made them both for the mantel.   Merry Mantel A Thoughtful Place Merry Mantel A Thoughtful Place This is such a different look for us. I normally gravitate towards more neutral and natural décor. Last year’s mantel was quite different. You can see that here {but excuse the dark photos. I am learning!}. I will be linking up with Michelle over at Ten June. Her blog is always packed with fantastic DIY projects and I am sure there will be beautiful mantels to check out.   Holiday also linking up with the lettered cottage

    Color and sparkle! Adore it! That cute little garland in the front is the *best*! I wish I had seen it before I tackled my mantle…I'm such a color fan and this just gets me all happy and giddy (c: I don't know how you keep coming up with all this creative stuff, but keep it comin' (c;

    Could this mantel be any more cheerful? I don't think so! So festive & simple all at the same time. I missed the whole linky thing – really need to get out from under my rock from time to time.
